Regarding the Covid -19 Pandemic

 

A Important Message from Mary

To all of my valued clients and friends, 

 

I certainly have missed you all during these uncertain times. I am so very happy to make a step towards normalcy as I am sure you are too. I wanted to  update you all to the steps I am taking to maintain the safety and health of both you and I during this next phase of reopening along with what to expect for your next appointment. Since maintaining a 6 foot distance will absolutely not be possible for this industry, I have temporarily made changes to the business to maximize safety for both you and I. 

 

I have taken a certification course through Barbicide (the top used disinfectant company in the salon industry) and have gone through the EPA website to ensure I have the proper disinfecting solutions and tools to properly clean the salon and will be doing thorough cleanings prior to each appointment.  

 

Each day, I will self screen for Covid-19 symptoms. If I present with any, I will promptly cancel my day and seek a test. I have each client’s contact information so if I were to get ill,I promise to contact anyone I have had contact with. I ask that in return you do the same prior to your appointment. If you are at all sick or feel even slightly under the weather, I respectfully ask that you stay home. On this note, my late cancellation fee will be waved for the next month(s). 

 

I will be wearing a new mask for each appointment, along with eye coverings, and will be changing my work smock for every client I see. 

 

A clean laundered cape will be used on each new client. 

 

Only one client will be scheduled at a time unless they are a minor child who has an appointment. They will be able to be accompanied by an adult who lives in their household. 

 

***What to expect if you have an upcoming appointment***

 

  1. Please be on time. My scheduling is tight right now and with the extra cleaning protocols it is crucial that you be on time. Running more than 10 minutes late could result in having to reschedule. 

  2. It is VERY important that if you are getting a curly cut, you arrive with your hair DOWN, DRY, and CLEAN with minimal product

  3. Upon arrival, please send a text to my salon phone (360)553-5056 from your vehicle. Once the studio has been thoroughly cleaned and tools have been sanitized, I will send a text back to you stating I am ready for you and will meet you at the door which will be locked from the outside. 

  4. At this time, masks will be required to be worn for the duration of the service. If you do not have one OR would rather not wear a cloth one for the service, I have masks that I will happily provide for $1.50 which was my cost. 

  5. When you arrive in the studio, I ask that you wash your hands for 20 seconds in the bathroom or you may sanitize your hands in the studio. 

  6. I will have you sign a form stating you have not experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the 2 weeks prior to your service (Fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste/smell) and are aware of any risks you take coming into the studio. 

  7. I encourage you to bring a tablet or phone since I have temporarily removed the magazines from the studio. Water will be available at the fill station in the hall, but I recommend bringing your own water bottle should you wish to have a beverage as I have also removed reusable cups and mugs. 

  8. Shampoo Service - the state **REQUIRES** that a towel must be draped over each clients face, covering their eyes, nose and mouth. For this reason, I am suggesting that each returning haircut only client books an express cut for now. (If you have a full curly cut scheduled, I will be reaching out in upcoming days)

  9. You will have the option of a contactless payment through Venmo but will still be accepting payments by card (preferred) or cash.

 

A few other short term changes that I want to inform you of is that for the time being, I have stopped taking new clients and will only be seeing new clients who were scheduled prior to the shutdown. 

 

Due to the fact that the virus is transmitted through microscopic droplets in the air, I have made the very hard decision to reduce blow drying for these first few weeks for all returning clients to see how things go. This will also give me much needed extra time to thoroughly deep clean and disinfect the salon between clients. I have also closed my books to new clients until I am able to catch up. The few new clients that I am taking in this first phase (Who previously were booked with me prior to closure) can choose to forego this portion of the appointment, but since it is an big step for what I teach in that first appointment, it will still be offered  as time permits. 

 

Your safety and health is my top priority along with the health of myself, my husband, my children and my immunocompromised close family members.   If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. Should you choose to wait until a later phase to visit, I completely understand and whole heartedly respect your decisions. We will get through this and again, this is temporary. 

 

 I am looking forward to seeing all of your lovely faces and have missed you all so very much. This time off has given me time to reflect on my choices and I am so happy to be a part of your lives. Thank you and stay healthy.

I have been a hairstylist since 2011. In 2014 I decided to enter the curl world by taking my first DevaCurl class. After seeing the difference I could make in curly girls' lives, I decided to make curls my main focus. I also take continuing education very seriously. Currently, I have a  Level 3 DevaCurl Master Stylist Certification, and am also Rëzo Certified, Curl by Curl Certified and Curly Hair Artistry Certified. I have completed courses with curl gurus including the Queen of Curls, Lorraine Massey, Scott Musgrave, Nubia Suarez and  Atoya Bass as well as taking classes with companies such as Wella, Paul Mitchel, Sunglights Balayage, Scruples, Joico, CHI and I frequently attend trade shows.

 

When you sit down in my chair I like to take into consideration your lifestyle, individual curl type and personal style to create a look unique to you. My curly cuts are done dry and I take a personalized approach to making your style one that will surely stand out.  

 

Outside of the salon, I am wife and mother to two fantastic kids and a fur-baby. Karaoke is my guilty pleasure and there is nothing I enjoy more than putting on a great album and turning the volume up to 11! I also enjoy traveling and taking classes to bring you the latest cutting edge styles and techniques.

Due to the small space, I request that children and guests stay home unless they have a scheduled appointment.

 

If you're sick, I ask that you kindly reschedule. 

Lastly, I understand life happens, but if you need to adjust your appt or reschedule, I ask for 24 hours notice so I can fill that appointment. Failure to do so will result in a fee of 30% of your service.
